Franklin Templeton has started the fee war as it is the first one to announce its fees in an S1 application. In a filing with the US SEC, Franklin Templeton revealed that it would only charge 0.19% as a sponsor fee while others haven’t disclosed it yet. The sponsor fees are to compensate for the administration expenses which is a competitive aspect for ETF products as investors will choose the lowest one. Notably, Franklin Templeton had altogether waived the fees for the first six months after it introduced spot BTC ETFs.
