John Deaton, a former U.S. Marine, and Ripple’s XRP holders’ attorney has thrown his hat into the ring, challenging Democratic incumbent U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren for her third term.

Deaton, born in Detroit and recently shifting to Massachusetts, is positioning himself as a champion for the working and middle classes, emphasizing his background in the Marines and legal career, where he fought as an attorney.

Deaton’s Campaign – Fighting for the People

In a campaign video released on Monday, Deaton outlines his commitment to continue his life’s mission of advocating for the most vulnerable. Pledging to take on the insurance industry and drug companies for more affordable healthcare, Deaton aims to work across party lines to address the migrant crisis, fight inflation, and advocate for term limits for what he calls “career politicians.”

At 56, Deaton is unknown in Massachusetts politics, facing a strong opponent, the present Senator Elizabeth Warren, who currently boasts over $3.9 million in her campaign account.

Direct Criticism of and from Elizabeth Warren

Deaton has never played it soft when criticizing the unfair. Without sugarcoating his words, Deaton’s direct criticism of Warren accuses her of delivering lectures and playing politics without tangible results for Massachusetts.

In his campaign video, Deaton directly contrasts the differences between his own history of advocating for and supporting ordinary individuals aka the “little guy” and what he perceives as Elizabeth Warren’s “perceived shortcomings.”

In response, a spokesperson for Warren states that she takes nothing for granted and highlights her strong record of delivering for working families in Massachusetts. Warren released a report detailing over $50 billion in federal support she secured for the state, emphasizing infrastructure investments and broadband funding.

Looking Back

Deaton’s life story adds an interest to this candidacy. Growing up in Detroit’s Highland Park neighborhood, he overcame a challenging environment marked by violence, abuse, and a survival-first mentality.

A Marine veteran, Deaton became the only member of his family to graduate high school. His legal career includes representing mesothelioma victims, and he has ventured into cryptocurrencies, seeing their potential to help the underprivileged and unbanked.

Notably, Deaton’s has gained support from Ripple’s XRP lawyer Bill Morgan saying, “Fact checked again and found wanting. Long overdue to be voted out. #DeatonforSenate just a better person with a better character.”
