Popular on-chain analyst alias ZachXBT has slammed legendary football iconic player Ronaldinho Gaúcho for attempting to influence his followers to adopt the crypto market.
On Sunday, the 44-year-old Brazilian former professional footballer posted on X platform, to his more than 21 million followers, that he is advocating for crypto to go mainstream.
“Time for crypto to go mainstream, who’s with me?” Ronaldinho posted.
According to a reply to Ronaldinho’s recent crypto X post by ZachXBT, the former forward midfielder has been involved in several crypto projects in the last few years, which largely turned into pump-and-dump scenarios.
ZachXBT pointed out that Ronaldinho has been trapped in financial turmoil in the past, including challenges to pay off tax debts. The on-chain sleuth slammed Ronaldinho for attempting to use the crypto market to offset his financial crisis.
Furthermore, Ronaldinho has been involved in several meme coins including Baby Doge Coin (BABYDOGE), Kishu Inu, Atari chain, and World Cup Inu ($WCI), among others.
As a well-known celebrity in the football industry, Ronaldinho is currently working closely with some web3-focused projects to sell their products. For instance, Ronaldinho recently became an ambassador for Lingo protocol, a GameFi platform that is built on Solana and Base networks.
Additionally, Ronaldinho is an ambassador for Betify, an online crypto casino platform, which also involves Floyd Mayweather.
The cryptocurrency market is highly fragmented in regulatory aspects around the world, thus giving celebrities a loophole to exploit. As a result, it is prudent for every crypto investor to perform due diligence on every web3 project before committing to the sophisticated smart contracts.
